Creativity – Vintage Window Shelf

Wow – this is hard!  Especially when juggling a new job.  My career is not my favorite and I have a difficult time balancing my work and home life.  Like most everyone, I need the money!  And I really try to take pride in anything I do, so I put more into my career than I probably should.

While I have a couple of days off, I want to remind myself that my family, myself and my home, should remain in my top priorities.

Today, I began planning some upcoming family events:  my son’s graduation and a family vacation.  Sometimes it seems like the ‘fun’ stuff should be put off until after my work is completed, but when looking back on the past, we are more likely to remember ‘events’ in life, rather than whether the house is clean.

I also tried to remind myself, that over the last month, when I’ve been working very long hours – I wanted time for myself, to work on my hobbies and creative ideas for my home.  (When in reality – I woke up this morning, only looking forward to a nap this afternoon.)  So to keep myself inspired, I want to share a creative project for my home that I have completed:  a vintage window shelf.  I love collecting vintage windows!  And I’m never sure what to do with them!  I lightly stained a board, and attached it with metal decorative brackets, from Hobby Lobby, to a vintage window.  I found the laundry soap boxes on Ebay and the tea towel and iron at a local antique shop.  It is a fun addition to my laundry room – and it didn’t take long at all to create!
