January 22 National Blonde Brownie Day

Cooking is not my strong point, but I love to eat!  I assume the only way I will get better cooking is to practice.  Therefore, I am challenging myself to try some new recipes.  Home made from scratch is so much better than store bought!

Today is National Blonde Brownie Day, otherwise known as Blondies.  I decided to try the recipe Snickerdoodle Blondies, since my family already loves Snickerdoodle cookies.  Cooking can be very enjoyable when you have enough time.  So today set aside some time to bake up a favorite recipe or try something new!

Snickerdoodle Blondies

  •    ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
  •    ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  •    1 cup granulated sugar
  •    2 eggs
  •    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  •    2 cups all-purpose flour
  •    1 tsp baking powder
  •    ½ tsp cream of tartar
  •    ½ tsp salt
Topping
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla and stir.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt to the wet ingredients and stir until combined.
  4. Spread the batter evenly into a 9×13 foil lined baking pan.
  5. In a smaller bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle it evenly over the batter in the pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool in the pan. Cut and enjoy.

The results:  I guess it will take a while before my recipes looks at delicious as the pictures in cookbooks, but they did taste good.  I think I will try baking them longer and in a 9×9 pan next time, so they are thicker.  My family devoured them.  They are excited to find out my new endeavor to enjoy everyday, involves more cooking!
